Support by the Friends adds substantially to what the gallery is able to offer students and visitors. Their generosity helps us to produce scholarly exhibit catalogues and allows us to augment our educational programs, bringing works by artists of the caliber of Chuck Close, Howard Hodgkin, Jules Olitski, Sean Scully and Andy Warhol to the George Washington University campus. They also fund unique collaborative exhibitions with other national arts organizations, such as those on Oscar Bluemner, Charles Demuth and Nancy Graves, and exhibitions supporting Modernists of vision whose oeuvre is rarely seen in the Washington, D.C. area.
Engagement in art-related activities fosters a distinct camaraderie amongst the Friends who help us maintain the high quality and diversity of our programming. Friends enhance the sense of community for the Brady Art Gallery within the university and amplify the momentum established in the new location of the Corcoran Flagg building. Friends aim to increase the membership and activities appropriately in this new endeavor.
